Paint work was someting I had put
off doing properly for years so rather than do it myself I sent it to be painted profesionally. It was stripped of 12 coats of paint and undercoat.
One of the first jobs I carried out was to fit a new Spyder Chassis this lasted for 10 years before failing the MOT. a Lotus Galvanised chassis seemed the best as now origionality was becomeing more important than practicality.
I bought the Elan to use a an everyday car during the bad weather when the Seven was tucked away. Used everyday it was as reliable as any other car
As well as taking me to work every day, it soon had a dual role as everyday work horse and weekend competition car. We entered Hillclimbs, Sprints, Rally's and Classic Rally's with absolutly no succsess at winning or even getting near !
