Mini Build.

Mini Build. Bought as a 1962 Cooper S after standing for a number of years. Not much of it was Cooper S, the body shell was a MK3 with wind up window, the engine from a Austin 1100 CC, The car was stripped down, the shell repaired, enginge changed for a 1275 Metro and the car prepared for competition use.

Classic Mini was one of the most popular cars every produced and a total of about 5,387,862 were built

Finished

It never really was finished. Over a   6 year period it had a full cage fitted, all the trim and sound proofing removed,competition head and Weber carb, better cam, 3 branch LCB and RC40 exhaust. The suspension had Hi Lows and was set up with negative camber and made adjustable.

Auldgirth Hill

High Auldgirth Hill Climb near Dumfries  Scotland. Run twice yearly but now only with plans to run again sometime in ther future.. Probably the wettest event we entered!...

Rally.

As members of Wigtom Motor Club the competition events availble to enter were many and varied ranging from Hill Climbs to Sprints, Classic Rallies Road Tests and even Production car trials (mud plugging) ...

Monty Carlo Rally Video.

Throwback To The Good Old Days.

Rarely do competitors drive their competition cars to events but it was done in the past, we decided that we would drive to all events in a 1962 car mostly without any trouble and allways made it back home.

Summer Hill Climb.

It is suprising how many venues are available for competition.  Pictured is Auldgirth in Scotland although this has now closed. Others that we entered were Forestburn, Doune,Kames, Knockhill, East Berwick, Olivers Mount, Harewood and Croft all Hill Climb or Sprint meetings.

Mini Build.

Basic work before even starting on the preparation work included new floors, new rear subframe MG  1275 engine , rub down and paint...
